N.J. pilot crashes during landing at Delaware airport

A New Jersey pilot's plane crashed during a landing at a Delaware airport this morning.

Delaware State Police said the 62-year-old man was making a planned landing at Jenkins Airport on Westville Road near Wyoming, Del., when the aircraft landed on a grassy runway, continued across the road and came to a stop in a yard.

Neither the pilot nor a 43-year-old male passenger was injured. No one else was aboard the 1980 Piper single-engine, fixed-wing plane.

Police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.

The incident happened shortly after 7 a.m.
