Man killed in West Philadelphia shooting

A shooting in West Philadelphia Saturday night left a 33-year-old man dead.

Police said the victim was shot once each in his left eye, neck and chest shortly before midnight on the 3800 block of West Girard Avenue.

He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was initially placed in critical condition.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, died shortly before 3:15 a.m. Sunday, police said.

There wasn't word on what sparked the shooting, and no arrests had yet been reported Sunday morning.
