Powerful storms move through region

A round of fast moving strong storms moved through the Philadelphia region from its western suburbs to the Shore beore heading off the coast about 9:45 p.m.

Skies will gradually clear overnight, then sunny and dry Friday.

The storms traveled east from central Pennsylvania, hitting Philadelphia shortly after 8 p.m., bringing heavy rain, wind and lightning.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for parts of Burlington County near Shamong and Tabernacle. The warning expired about 9:15 p.m. after conditions favorable to a tornado dissipated.

The storms did not cause significant damage; However, a flash flood warning is in effect for the Philadelphia area and into Burlington County until 12:45 a.m., a result of today's heavy rain fall.

The good news: behind the lind of storms is drier air that should move through overnight. Even better, the weekend, from Friday to Sunday, looks dry with much lower humidity.

In short, it could be a near perfect summer weekend.

Enjoy it, because next week we start again with storms , heat and humidity.
