Bank robbery suspect found dead of overdose in Camden

Bank robbery suspect Michael C. Decarlo, 36, was found dead of a drug overdose in Camden Saturday morning.

A suspected bank robber was found dead of a drug overdose in Camden Saturday morning.

Police found the body of Michael C. Decarlo, 36, under the Interstate 676 overpass on Mickle Boulevard around 11:45 a.m., according to a news release from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Empty heroin bags were recovered from Decarlo's body, and an autopsy determined he died from adverse effects of narcotics, the release states.

Decarlo, of Haddon Heights, was being sought in connection with the Friday afternoon robbery of the TD Bank on Black Horse Pike in Bellmawr, prosecutors said.

In that incident, he allegedly passed a demand note to a teller but did not show a weapon. No injuries were reported.
