Attempted suicide on Benjamin Franklin Bridge PATCO track

An attempted suicide on the PATCO tracks over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge delayed traffic and trains this morning.

A man stepped on the tracks in front of a train in an attempt to kill himself sometime between 8 and 8:30 a.m., said Tim Ireland, a Delaware River Port Authority spokesman.

The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital after emergency crews removed him from the tracks, Ireland said.

Vehicle traffic and PATCO trains faced heavy delays for about two hours after the incident, but normal road conditions had resumed by late morning.
