After storms, Delco business still picking up

Newtown Township residents have a few more days to contact the public works department for help in disposing of smaller tree limbs felled by summer storms.

NEWTOWN SQUARE Newtown Township residents have a few more days to contact the public works department for help in disposing of smaller tree limbs felled by summer storms.

The public works department will collect tree limbs and branches from residential properties until Friday for the benefit of those who can't take the debris to the Public Works Yard, located behind the Municipal Building at 209 Bishop Hollow Rd.

The yard will accept downed tree limbs until the end of September from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.

For pickup, wood must be cut into pieces no more than 4 feet long and 4 inches in diameter, and the pieces should be stacked on the curb.

Leaves, grass clippings and brush will not be accepted.

The most damaging storm of the summer occurred on June 23, when more than 650,000 customers lost power in Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey. Delaware County was especially hard-hit.

For more information on how to schedule a pickup, contact the public works department at 610-356-0200, option No. 4 on the voice menu.
