2 dead after shooting, hammer attack in Crescentville

Two men were killed in a morning attack in Crescentville.

Philadelphia police said the circumstances of the incident, which was reported on the 500 block of Allengrove Street shortly after 10:30 a.m., remain unknown.

One victim suffered a gunshot wound to his head, police said, and the other was struck in the head with a hammer.

Police said both men were pronounced dead and there were no other victims.

It wasn't immediately known what led to the violence, and no descriptions of any suspects were available.

The men were not immediately identified.
