5 stories to follow: July 24

Here's your daily look at five stories to know about:

1. Urban League conference: The National Urban League's annual conference begins today in Philadelphia. The event, which runs from today through Saturday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, is called "Redeem the Dream: Jobs Rebuild America" and marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington (where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech). Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial gives a keynote address this evening.

2. Gay marriage developments: A few weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court's rulings in two major gay marriage cases, same-sex marriage is back in the headlines in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. On Tuesday, Montgomery County Register of Wills D. Bruce Hanes said his office would issue marriage licenses to gay couples. And today, four national groups advocating for marriage equality are launching an outreach effort in New Jersey and making the state a priority. The New Jersey United for Marriage campaign says the state is ready to let same-sex couples wed.

3. Search for teens missing in creek: Rescue crews are set to resume searching for two teenage boys who went missing while swimming in a Bucks County creek Tuesday night. The boys went missing in the Neshaminy Creek, near the Neshaminy Falls train station. A third teen made it out of the water.

4. Eagles retail store: The Philadelphia Eagles will open their first Pro Shop in the Philly area (outside of Lincoln Financial Field) today. The new store, located at the Market Place at Garden State Park shopping complex in Cherry Hill, will sell clothing and other Eagles goods.

5. Catholic properties auction: An auctioneer will sell eight Archdioceses of Philadelphia properties as the church tries to reduce its financial deficit. Two former schools and three former convents in Philadelphia, as well as three parcels of land in Bucks and Montgomery counties, are on the auction block today.
