Man, 20, shot dead outside store

A 20-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday night outside a neighborhood store in the city's Juniata Park section, police said.

About 8:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting and found the victim laying on the sidewalk in the 4200 block of Neilson Street, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. He had been shot in the chest and back.

Police rushed the man to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:51 p.m.

Witnesses said the victim was shot by one of two men who then ran north on Neilson. Police found two shell casings on the sidewalk, Small said. Police were checking some nearby surveillance cameras for possible recordings of the suspects.
