Teen killed, another man dead, a third wounded in separate Sunday shootings

A 16-year-old youth was shot and killed Sunday in West Philadelphia, one of three separate shootings within two hours in that neighborhood Sunday afternoon, police said.

The teen was shot once in the head around 12:56 p.m. inside a home on the 200 block of North 52nd Street, police said. He was taken to the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania, where he was declared dead at 3:14 p.m., police said.

No weapon was recovered, and no arrests were made, police said. Authorities on Monday identified the teen as Sean Jones and said he lived on the block where the killing happened.

Later Sunday, officers found a 27-year-old man suffering from six to seven gunshot wounds to the face and chest on the 5700 block of Spruce Street, police said.

He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and declared dead at 2:02 p.m., police said. They did not identify the victim. No one had been arrested.

At 12:40 p.m. Sunday, police said, a 21-year-old man was shot once in the neck at 56th Street and Wyalusing Avenue in West Philadelphia.

The victim, whom police did not identify, was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and listed in stable condition, authorities said. Police said no one was arrested and no weapons had been recovered.
