Former U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger will rejoin Center City law firm Morgan Lewis after his nearly seven-year stint as the city's top federal prosecutor, the firm announced Wednesday.

Memeger, who resigned from his Justice Department post last month, previously worked for four years as a corporate attorney and white collar defense lawyer at the firm before he was nominated by President Obama in 2010.

President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to name Memeger's replacement in the U.S. Attorney's Office in consultation with U.S. Sens. Robert P. Casey (D., Pa.) and Pat Toomey (R., Pa.) after taking office later this month.

The office of 235 federal prosecutors and support staff is now led by Memeger's former first assistant, Louis D. Lappen.
