Three wounded in Kensington, North Philly shootings

A double shooting in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood late Friday night and another shooting in North Philadelphia early Saturday wounded a total of three people, police said Saturday.

A double shooting in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood late Friday night and another shooting in North Philadelphia early Saturday wounded a total of three people, police said Saturday.

The double shooting occurred inside a home on the 300 block of East Cambria Street at about 11:45 p.m. An 18-year-old female was shot once in the left leg and a 22-year-old man was shot once in the left thigh.

Both victims were taken by medics to Temple University Hospital, where they were in stable condition, Sgt. Thomas Walsh of the East Detective Division said.

Walsh said a 19-year-old male who was found on a nearby street with a handgun shortly after the shooting was taken into custody. Investigators are still looking into whether he has any connection to the shooting.

The 19-year-old, Alfonso Wright, was found on the 2900 block of Rosehill Street, around the corner from where the victims were shot, with a 9mm Hi-Point handgun on him, Walsh said.

Wright, of the 5300 block of Water Street in Olney, was charged with weapon-possession violations. He was not charged with the shooting as of Saturday afternoon, the East Detective Division said.

Separately, about 3:45 a.m. Saturday, a 26-year-old man was shot three times in the left ankle outside on North 25th Street near York Street. The victim was taken by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was in stable condition. No arrest was made.
