A 17-year-old youth from West Oak Lane has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and related counts for allegedly shooting a 14-year-old girl inside an East Germantown rowhouse early Wednesday, according to police.

Elijah Fauntleroy, of the 1500 block of 68th Avenue, turned himself in to Northwest Detectives around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Fauntleroy will face charges as an adult and was being held on $350,000 bail, according to court records.

The teen is accused of playing with and mistakenly firing a handgun inside a house on the 5300 block of Bloyd Street around 3 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The gun was pointed at a group of teens when it went off, police said. Bullets struck the unidentified 14-year-old in the right hand and chest. She was listed in stable condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

Police said they recovered a rifle and revolver on the roof of the home Wednesday.

The incident was the second time overnight Tuesday that a teenager had been mistakenly shot in Philadelphia - and the fifth time in two weeks that a teen became an innocent victim of gunfire in the city.

A sixth teenager - a 16-year-old girl - was shot by mistake Wednesday night in Juniata Park, according to police.
