A 14-year-old armed with a loaded revolver was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly pointed the weapon at Chester police.

The unidentified teen is charged in juvenile court with possession of firearm by a minor, and possession of firearm with altered manufactures number.

About 10 p.m., a group of individuals was observed loitering in the Chester Apartments in the 1200 block of West 9th Street, according to police.

As a police van approached them from 8th and Pennell Streets, the teen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and cargo pants reached to his waistband, took out a large firearm and began to walk backward in the direction of another police unit.

Police shouted at the teen to drop the gun, when he turned and pointed the weapon in their direction. He then dropped to the ground, still holding the gun, and was arrested, police said.

The gun was a Titan Tiger .38 special. The serial number had been removed, according to police.

Two men in the crowd were also arrested.

Kahlid Smith, 35, of the 2100 block of Providence Avenue, was charged with firearms violations and assault.

Kenneth Argro, 23, of the 2700 block of Madison Street, was arrested after a short vehicle pursuit. He was charged with firearms violations, resisting arrest, and other related crimes.
