A Delaware County man was sentenced Monday to three to six years in state prison after pleading guilty to taking part in an identity-theft ring that prosecutors say operated across the country.

The state Attorney General's office said Tuesday that Lovell Davis III, 36, of Havertown, was the leader of a group that manufactured hundreds of counterfeit credit cards and corresponding identification cards in Philadelphia.

With the phony cards, prosecutors said, Davis' co-conspirators visited financial institutions to obtain cash advances.

Working with associates in Nevada, New York, Maryland, Illinois, and California, Davis used his profits, prosecutors say, to purchase lavish shoes and handbags, car rentals, hotel stays, and vacations.

Davis pleaded guilty to 69 counts of access device fraud, 18 counts of forgery, and 10 counts of identity theft, among other charges.

The sentence was imposed by Allegheny County Judge Joseph K. Williams III.
