A 66-year-old man was struck and killed while walking in Levittown Wednesday afternoon, police said.

John Shough was walking with his brother on the shoulder of Veterans Highway, near New Falls Road, about 3:15 p.m. when he tried to cross Veterans Highway outside of a crosswalk and was struck by a Dodge van heading north, police said.

Shough, from Mill Hall, Clinton County, in central Pennsylvania, was taken by ambulance to Lower Bucks Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short while later.

Acting Lieutenant Ralph Johnson of the Bristol Township Police Patrol Division said Thursday that the driver, a 61-year-old Levittown man, skidded to a stop after the crash and did not move his vehicle afterward. The driver, who did not appear to be at fault, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bristol Township tip line at 267-812-3036.
