Man gunned down in North Philadelphia

A man was shot to death Thursday night in North Philadelphia, police said.

About 9:50 p.m. in the 1300 block of West Somerset Street, the man, described as 20 to 25 years old, was shot once in the head, police said.

Officers who responded to a report of gunshots on the block found the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:55 p.m.

Police report no arrests as of Friday morning. The motive for the slaying remained unknown. Authorities didn't release the man's name because his family was still being notified. - Robert Moran
