Riverside man charged with murder in woman's death

A Riverside man was charged with murder Sunday following a shooting at his home on Hooker Street on Saturday night.

A Riverside man was charged with murder Sunday following a shooting at his home on Hooker Street on Saturday night.

Darren Winningham, 42, was taken to Burlington County Jail, where bail was set at $500,000.

Police responded to a report of a gun in an apartment building on Hooker Street, where they found Nikita Cross, 35, on the floor shot in the chest. Cross, a Galloway resident, was transported to the Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro, where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that a group had gathered at Winningham's home for a social event, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation was conducted by the Riverside Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. An autopsy will be performed by the Burlington County medical examiner.
