Philadelphia police on Tuesday identified the off-duty officer who fatally shot a 19-year-old robbery suspect Saturday afternoon in the Fern Rock section.

Philadelphia police on Tuesday identified the off-duty officer who fatally shot a 19-year-old robbery suspect Saturday afternoon in the Fern Rock section.

Erik Bullock, a 19-year veteran assigned to the department's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, saw an elderly person being robbed at gunpoint about 2:20 p.m. in the 5700 block of North Park Avenue, police said.

Bullock ordered the suspect, Quron Williams, of the 4400 block of Morris Street in Germantown, to drop the gun, police said.

Williams allegedly pointed his gun at Bullock, who then fired his gun and chased Williams.

During the chase, Williams allegedly pointed his gun again at Bullock and apparently fired. Bullock fired again at Williams, who collapsed at Broad Street and Chew Avenue.

He was transported to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:06 p.m.

As with all officer-involved shootings, the department said, Bullock has been transferred to desk duty while the incident is investigated by the Homicide Division and Internal Affairs.
