Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia will officiate at Friday's Funeral Mass for Mother Mary Angelica, the nun who founded a major Catholic television network.

Chaput will preside over the Mass at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Ala., according to the website of the Eternal World Television Network, the network that grew out of the religious talk show Mother Angelica began broadcasting from a monastery garage in 1981.

Mother Angelica, 92, died Easter Sunday at the rural Alabama monastery where she lived.

"I had the honor of knowing her personally and witnessed the tremendously positive impact her work for Jesus Christ had on many millions of people," Chaput wrote in a Facebook post announcing he would be the principal celebrant at the funeral.

In Philadelphia, a special Mass will take place at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The invitation-only funeral in Alabama will be streamed on EWTN and ewtn.com.
