Lindenwold police said 39-year-old Martin A. Thomas was apprehended after getting locked inside the grocery store he was trying to burglarize on Monday.

Officers were called to the Quick Food Store at 102 North Berlin Road after an alarm went off. The shop was closed, but officers saw Thomas trying to force his way out, police said.

Authorities said Thomas broke into the store through the roof and took money from a cash register. He "was then unable to exit the store and became locked inside" until the officers arrived, police said in a statement.

Thomas, of Winslow Township, later admitted to detectives that he was responsible for break-ins at four other Lindenwold businesses, officials said. He has been charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
