A woman was arrested for punching several police officers while they were breaking up a wild bar brawl in Northeast Philadelphia early Sunday, authorities said. Two men also were charged in the fight. No serious injuries were reported.

Officers responded to a radio call about gunshots on the 9800 block of Bustleton Avenue just before 3 a.m., according to police. They saw 50 to 75 people in front of the Good Life Lounge, about 25 of whom were fighting in the parking lot.

As officers entered the fray and tried to break up the fight, one man became belligerent and yelled "Shoot me, I'm black, shoot me," according to the Police Department's public affairs office.

The crowd then turned on the officers, and the man advanced on them with his fists balled into a "fighting stance," police said. When a lieutenant used pepper spray to subdue him, a woman got between them and punched an officer in the side of the head, punched a sergeant in the back, and hit the lieutenant in the back, officers said. The woman ran from the scene but was apprehended nearby, police said, adding that a third man refused to leave the scene and ran at police.

Police said that they would not be releasing the names Sunday, but the woman was charged with assault on the three officers. The two men were charged with disorderly conduct and rioting.

Police found 11 shell casings on the ground from what appeared to have come from two different weapons, police said. Officers are investigating.
