Philly Powerball ticket wins $1M as jackpot rises again

The record-setting jackpot for Powerball's Wednesday drawing has been increased again, as officials disclosed that a $1 million winner from Saturday's drawing was sold in Philadelphia.

The record-setting jackpot for Powerball's Wednesday drawing has been increased again, as officials disclosed that a $1 million winner from Saturday's drawing was sold in Philadelphia.

The jackpot for Wednesday now stands at a staggering $1.4 billion for the annuity, or $868 million cash, the largest lottery prize in history.

The top prize rolled over to $1.3 billion after no one won Saturday's $947.9 million jackpot, and was raised again Monday due to strong ticket sales.

One ticket sold in Pennsylvania won the $1 million second-tier prize in that drawing by matching all five white balls (16, 19, 32, 34 and 57) but missing the Powerball of 13.

That ticket was sold at Wilson's Check Cashing, located at 1201 E. Susquehanna St. in Philadelphia's Fishtown section, Pennsylvania Lottery officials said.

The retailer gets a $5,000 bonus.

Seven Pennsylvania lottery players won $150,000 on Saturday. Those players matched four of the five white balls, plus the Powerball, and bought their tickets with the power play option.

None of those tickets were sold in the Philadelphia region, however. Those winners came from Allegheny, Erie, Franklin, Lackawanna, Lycoming, Mifflin and Schuylkill counties.

Another 18 tickets sold in the state won $50,000 by matching four white balls and the Powerball, but without the power play.

In New Jersey, 29 tickets were $50,000 winners, the top prize in the state.

Powerball's jackpot has been rising since the Nov. 4 drawing, when a Tennessee ticket won $144 million.

The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
