New details on remains found in Delco park

The skeletal remains discovered in Ridley Creek State Park on New Year's Day were those of a white female in her late teens to late 20s, police confirmed Monday.

The skeletal remains discovered in Ridley Creek State Park on New Year's Day were those of a white female in her late teens to late 20s, police confirmed Monday.

However, they said no identification would be made until an autopsy is completed later in the week.

The woman was about 5-foot-3, authorities said in new details released Monday afternoon, with a slender build, "prominent teeth," and either light brown or blond hair. She was believed to have worn a size 9 shoe. The remains were found by someone walking in a wooded area just off the main trail of the Delaware County park.

Addressing widespread speculation that the remains were those of Amanda De Guio, a missing Drexel Hill woman, State Trooper John O'Donnell said Monday that investigators were considering "all possibilities."

"We have no confirmation it's her," O'Donnell said. "We can't exclude her and we can't confirm it is her."

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Mike Chitwood said Monday his department continues to categorize De Guio as a missing person.

De Guio, 25, was last seen leaving her home in June 2014, and friends and family have had no contact with her since. According to family, De Guio, a mother of two, is about 5-foot-2, weighs between 115 to 120 pounds, and has naturally brown hair that she often dyed either jet black or blond.

Nicole De Guio, Amanda De Guio's older sister, said she and her family were startled by speculation that the body was her sister's.

"We contacted state police first . . . to look at the possibility," Nicole De Guio said. "It somewhat fits my sister's description, but it's a possibility for anyone that is missing."

"My only concern is finding my sister," De Guio said. "Negative attention . . . doesn't help us."
