Electronic recycling days set at 2 sites

DOYLESTOWN Due to growing demand, Bucks County is to collect from residents old electronic waste, such as TVs and microwaves that contain lead and mercury, at two locations in November.

Improperly disposing of electronic waste puts people at risk for serious health problems and breaks the law. The county has held two such events this year.

"Resident feedback was a big part of it," said county spokesman Chris Edwards. "We really wanted to give the residents the opportunity to get rid of stuff. They have been really popular."

The first collection is to be Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quakertown community pool on Mill Street. The second collection is to be Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School on Veterans Highway in Bristol Township.

The collections are for residents, not businesses or institutions. For questions, contact Art Feltes, the county's recycling coordinator, at 215-345-3414. - Ben Finley
