Commission meeting set to discuss new Wawa in Penndel

PENNDEL Officials in the borough of Penndel have scheduled a planning commission meeting for Oct. 29 to discuss the construction of a 12-pump Wawa gas station and convenience store at the corner of Lincoln Highway and Bellevue Avenue.

The project has been in the works for about two years, said Tom Verrichia, the owner of the Verrichia Co., which is the developer on the project.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said traffic studies indicated the construction of auxiliary lanes and additional traffic signals would be needed for the project.

Road construction for the site will likely not start until the spring of 2016 at the earliest, officials said. - Matthew Nussbaum
