An Upper Moreland Township man has been arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography, Montgomery County officials announced Friday.

Aric Douglas Johnson, 30, shared movie files containing child pornography, unwittingly with an undercover detective, police said.

Detectives then served a search warrant on Johnson's home and seized his laptop to conduct a forensic evaluation, said District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman.

"This search showed a total of 18,625 images and 55 videos," Ferman said in an announcement of Johnson's arrest.

Johnson was arrested Oct. 8 and released on unsecured bail. He is charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of distribution of child pornography, and three counts of criminal use of a communication device.
