A 3-year-old boy remained in critical condition with severe head injuries Tuesday after being struck by a car Monday in the city's Logan section, police said.

The accident occurred about 5:25 p.m. in the 1200 block of Wagner Avenue. Police said the 26-year-old male driver of the silver Mazda stayed at the scene and was assaulted by two other men. The driver, who declined medical attention, was aided by two witnesses who stopped the attack and let him sit in another vehicle until police arrived.

The boy had run between two parked cars into the street when he was hit. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center, then transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. - Robert Moran
