A brother and sister were wounded in a double shooting allegedly committed by a 15-year-old boy who was quickly arrested Friday night in South Philadelphia, police said.

The victims, a 19-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy, were at 27th Street and Snyder Avenue when a masked assailant opened fire shortly before 9 p.m., said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The siblings were transported by police to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where both were listed in stable condition.

Police broadcast a description of the shooter, and officers in the 1600 block of South 28th Street stopped a boy matching the description, Small said.

The boy had a gun and mask in his possession and was positively identified by witnesses, Small said.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
