Coroner: Man found in burning house killed himself

A 50-year-old man found Monday afternoon in a London Grove Township home that was engulfed in flames died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, the Chester County Coroner's Office said Tuesday.

Steven L. Tingley was pronounced dead at 1:39 p.m. Monday at Jennersville Regional Hospital.

Members of the West Grove Fire Company found Tingley in his home in the 100 block of Hannum Mill Road around 1 p.m. after they and members of the Pennsylvania State Police responded to the fire, state police said.

The state police Criminal Investigation Unit and Fire Marshal's Office and the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office are investigating. State police asked anyone with information to call 610-268-2022. - Michaelle Bond
