Shuttle busing for some SEPTA rail riders this weekend

Weekend shuttle busing on a stretch of SEPTA's Lansdale/Doylestown Line starts this weekend for a tree-trimming project.

Meanwhile, weekend buses remain in place on another Regional Rail line and work on the transit agency's underground trolley tunnel is wrapping up.

For Lansdale/Doylestown riders, buses will replace trains between the Colmar and Doylestown stations most weekends through Oct. 11, starting Saturday.

The only exceptions to the Saturday and Sunday buses are Labor Day weekend and Sept. 26 and 27, when Pope Francis will be in Philadelphia.

Riders can board the buses at the Doylestown, Delaware Valley College, New Britain, Chalfont and Colmar stations. Some departure times differ from the regularly scheduled train times.

A track work project that's part of SEPTA's efforts to install Positive Train Control equipment remains underway on the West Trenton Line.

Shuttle buses have been running instead of trains on weekends on that line between the West Trenton and Woodbourne stations since mid-July. That weekend busing continues most weekends through Oct. 4.

This weekend also marks the final days of SEPTA's annual "trolley tunnel blitz," a concentrated period of work that has shut down the Center City trolley tunnel since July 31.

Trolley Routes 11, 13, 34 and 36 have been diverting to 40th and Market streets, while Route 10 has diverted to 40th and Filbert. Passengers have been transferring there to the Market-Frankford line for trips to and from Center City.

Normal trolley service, including stops in the tunnel between 13th and 40th Streets, resumes Monday morning.

SEPTA said the agency has focused on track and power improvements in the tunnel.
