CHESTER COUNTY

Some Saturday bus service will be ended

MALVERN Saturday service on two Chester County bus lines is to end this week.

A reduction in funding this year means service is to be eliminated on the SCCOOT and Coatesville LINK bus lines, which now run Mondays through Saturdays during the day, the Transportation Management Association of Chester County said.

The association is working with municipalities, businesses, and the county commissioners to try to fill its funding gap and restore Saturday service.

"We know how important this service is in the community," said John Meisel, manager of transportation operations and planning at the association.

The SCCOOT service runs from Oxford to the West Chester Transportation Center, with stops in West Grove, Lincoln University, Kennett Square, and Longwood Gardens.

The Coatesville LINK service runs from Coatesville to Parkesburg, with stops at Brandywine Hospital, the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and the West Sadsbury Commons. The bus line offers service to Amtrak stations in Coatesville and Parkesburg.

The Evening LINK, a bus line that runs from Coatesville to Exton and West Chester, will continue to operate Saturday evenings. - Michaelle Bond
