Watershed volunteers are sought

DOYLESTOWN The Bucks County Master Watershed Steward Program is seeking volunteers who will organize stream cleanups, bank restoration projects, and educational workshops on topics that range from pollution prevention to invasive plant control.

The program is run through the Penn State Cooperative Extension in Bucks County. Weekly training classes for the volunteers are to be held Wednesday evenings starting Aug. 5 and are to run through the fall. Two Saturday morning hands-on field trips are also planned.

A program fee of $100 is required to cover the cost of training materials and expenses. In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to the Extension.

Volunteer applications will be accepted through July 31, and a volunteer open house is set for July 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Buckingham Township building, 4613 Hughesian Dr.
