General Lee replaced by the Blues Mobile in Bucks

DOYLESTOWN Derrick Moore hasn't had to deal with many controversies over the years, so he was not upset when the owner of the General Lee, the car from the TV show The Dukes of Hazzard, asked that a replacement be found for Moore's celebration this weekend of the five-year anniversary of his retro/vintage T-shirt boutique, Monkey's Uncle.

The General Lee, which has the Confederate flag painted on its roof, was scheduled to be shown Sunday at Moore's store, at 21 E. State St., but he and his wife and co-owner, Jeanell, thought better of it.

"We got a couple of calls about it, whether it would still appear, and the owner of it wanted to avoid the controversy anyway," Moore said. "Obviously it's a hot topic this week."

Monkey's Uncle specializes "in unique and obscure old school sports, movies, pop culture, and concert" T-shirts, Moore said in a statement. So he opted to go on Sunday with the Bluesmobile from The Blues Brothers movie, from 2 to 4 p.m.
