Chesco food bank to launch mobile market

EXTON The Chester County Food Bank is expected to celebrate a new Fresh2You Mobile Market with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. June 12 at the Food Bank, 650 Pennsylvania Dr.

The mobile market, operated from a truck, is designed to provide "fresh produce, healthy food staples, and educational resources directly to underserved communities on a weekly basis," food bank officials said.

Fresh2You is set to open for the summer on July 1 and will concentrate on supplying fresh food, especially to residents of Coatesville and Honey Brook. Those communities have been labeled "food insecure" due to their lack of fresh-food stores and access to public transportation.

Marie Kessler, the food bank's food and education program manager, said the organization would also conduct cooking demonstrations and offer samples of seasonal produce, easy-to-follow recipe ideas, and tips on how to store and preserve fresh foods.
