Delaware County police are searching for the next of kin for a man murdered in Darby Borough early Friday morning.

Dolan T. Alsop, 60, of Darby Borough, was killed with a shotgun about 1 a.m. in the hallway of a building in the 400 block of Main Street. Police said they believe the incident was drug related and the shooter had been lying in wait, according to Chief Robert Smythe.

The shooter fled on foot up Main Street and down 5th Street, said Smythe. The incident is under investigation and changing hourly, he said.

Alsop had prior addresses in Philadelphia, said Smythe. Police have not been able to reach a relative, he said.

After the shooting, residents of the two-story building were briefly evacuated and housed aboard a SEPTA trolley, Smythe said.
