Public invited to Montco self-defense classes

ELKINS PARK The Klein Active Adult Center has scheduled a four-week series of self-defense classes for senior adults. The series is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. May 6, and the public is invited. The center is at 7763 Old York Rd., Elkins Park.

The series is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. May 6, and the public is invited. The center is at 7763 Old York Rd., Elkins Park.

The four consecutive weekly sessions are to be instructed by Michael McCormack, a fourth-degree black belt in Japanese karate, and have been designed to teach seniors how to think and act in self-defense.

McCormack said basic techniques of striking, blocking, and escaping will be taught in a relaxed and comfortable manner. Discussions are expected to include awareness, self-preservation. and everyday things seniors can do to feel and be safer.
