Bridge to be closed for repairs

POCOPSON TWP. The Route 52/Lenape Road bridge will be closed from Wednesday morning to Friday afternoon for resurfacing.

Traffic will be detoured to Creek Road, Route 926 and Pocopson Road, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said in a statement Monday.

The 103-year-old stone-arch bridge crosses the Brandywine Creek in Pocopson and Birmingham Townships and carries 9,400 vehicles a day, according to PennDot.

The roadwork will "provide motorists with a smooth riding surface" across the bridge, which is 341 feet long, said the statement.
