Former Rep. Holden to chair state LCB

HARRISBURG-Gov. Wolf has named former U.S. Rep. Tim Holden as the new chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.

HARRISBURG-Gov. Wolf has named former U.S. Rep. Tim Holden as the new chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.

Holden, a Democrat from Schuylkill County, served 10 terms in Congress representing central Pennsylvania before being named to the LCB by Gov. Corbett in 2013.

He replaces chairman Joseph "Skip" Brion, who will remain on the three-member board.

"I am confident in Chairman Holden's ability to continue to make the LCB more transparent and ensure that taxpayers receive the most benefit and the highest standard of customer service," Wolf said.

Other board members and employees had come under scrutiny in recent years over gifts from vendors. The LCB continues to be the focus of debate over the future of liquor sales in the Commonwealth.
