Count of homeless is scheduled

DOYLESTOWN As part of an annual nationwide initiative, local officials will conduct a count of the number of homeless individuals living in Bucks County on Jan. 29, the county said in an announcement.

The Housing Continuum of Care of Bucks County will also survey the sheltered homeless on the same day, the county said, and survey teams will provide information about services to both sheltered and unsheltered individuals.

The survey has been conducted for the last seven years in Bucks County, officials said. It is part of a nationwide effort organized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Last year's count in Bucks County found 519 homeless individuals either in shelters or on the streets.

Anyone with information about where homeless people may be living can contact Jane Wenda of the county department of housing and community at 215-345-3845 or jwenda@co.bucks.pa.us. - Chris Palmer
