Woman shot in face in Nicetown

A 27-year-old woman was in critical condition after being shot in the face Tuesday night in the city's Nicetown section, police said.

About 9:38 p.m., police received reports of gunshots in the area of North Gratz and Wingohocking Streets, police said. The woman, who also was shot in the shoulder, was transported in a private vehicle to Einstein Medical Center.

Police said the shooting occurred in the 4400 block of North Gratz Street. No arrests were reported.
