Pedestrian killed in Northeast Philly

A man was killed early Friday when an SUV spun out of control on Academy Road in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

A man was killed early Friday when an SUV spun out of control on Academy Road in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The 29-year-old female driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

The victim was walking on the 9900 block of Academy outside Northeast Philadelphia Airport about 3:10 a.m. when a southbound Nissan Pathfinder jumped the curb, hitting the man before slamming into a utility pole, according to officials.

The man, whose name has not been released yet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
