Ambulance driver gets 2 years for fraud

Yury Gerasyuk was part of a scam to steal health-care funds, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

AN AMBULANCE-company driver was sentenced to two years in federal prison yesterday for his role in a conspiracy to defraud Medicare.

Yury Gerasyuk, 42, of Philadelphia, joined Penn Choice Ambulance Inc., of Huntingdon Valley and Camp Hill, in 2009.

In an April 2013 indictment, the feds charged him, six others and the company itself with conspiracy to commit health-care fraud and related charges. All defendants pleaded guilty.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Juan Sanchez ordered Gerasyuk to pay restitution to Medicare and imposed a three-year term of supervised release. The judge has ordered Penn Choice to cease ambulance-transport operations.
