Man shot dead in Kingsessing home

A 49-year-old man was shot to death inside a house Monday night in the city's Kingsessing section, police said.

About 9:40 p.m., police were called to the 5600 block of Florence Street, where they found the man in an upstairs bedroom with bullet wounds to his head and stomach, said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives.

The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was renting the second-floor room from the owner of the house, Walker said. Some narcotics were found at the location, but there was no obvious motive, he said. - Robert Moran
