A 25-foot decorative concrete beam fell to the ground in Center City early Friday, but caused no injuries.

The beam is one of series around a 2-story parking garage above the Chima restaurant in the Kennedy House apartment building on the 1900 block of JFK Boulevard.

The beam, made of concrete and steel rebar, fell on the 20th Street side of the building overnight, blocking the sidewalk and part of the roadway.

Some of the beams support the structure while others, including the one that fell, are attached to the exterior of a corner wall.

L&I inspectors are investigating.

A month ago, a 3-story high ceramic mural depicting a tree fell from the side of an apartment building at 9th and Race Streets in Chinatown, also without causing any injuries.
