Cops: Man, 19, dies from 6 point-blank gunshots

A 19-year-old male died yesterday after being shot six times at point-blank range, police said.

A 19-YEAR-OLD male died yesterday after being shot six times at point-blank range, police said.

The shooting occurred about 5 p.m. on Bailey Street near Tasker in the Grays Ferry section of South Philadelphia, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying on the sidewalk. He had been shot in his upper torso, back, right shoulder and right leg.

He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead at 5:33 p.m., Small said.

Witnesses told police that two men were seen fleeing the area after the shooting, one traveling north on Bailey, the other south. No information on a motive was available.

The witnesses were being interviewed by detectives from the Homicide Unit, and surveillance from nearby businesses was being reviewed, Small said.
