Troubled cop under new investigation for allegedly punching girlfriend

A Philly police officer is being investigated by Internal Affairs for allegedly punching her girlfriend in the mouth.

A PHILADELPHIA police officer who was recently reinstated after being fired for misconduct is now under investigation again for allegedly punching her girlfriend in the mouth, causing an injury that needed eight to 10 stitches to close, sources said.

Police Internal Affairs detectives are investigating Officer Stacey Wallace, who joined the force in 1995, for domestic assault, police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little confirmed yesterday.

Little gave no other details, saying the incident remains under investigation and that Wallace has not been criminally charged.

According to police paperwork obtained by the Daily News, officers were called to Wallace's apartment, on Godfrey Avenue near Crescentville Road in Oak Lane, just before 2 a.m. Dec. 31, after Wallace allegedly attacked her girlfriend and punched her during a dispute.

The girlfriend was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center to be treated for a laceration to her lip that required several stitches and a loose tooth she suffered from the punch, according to the police documents.

Wallace, a former narcotics cop, now works in the 22nd District, at 17th Street and Montgomery Avenue in North Philadelphia. An officer there said yesterday that Wallace wasn't in the office and refused to take a phone message. Wallace did not return an email seeking comment.

The Daily News could not immediately obtain details on why Wallace initially lost her job. She was recently reinstated after arbitration.
