1 dead, 2 wounded in Philly shootings

Tyrone Ronald Sturgis, 29, of Midwest Oak Lane, was shot multiple times about 9:30 p.m. on the 2200 block of Dauphin Street in North Philadelphia, police said. He was pronounced dead about an hour later at Temple University Hospital. No arrest was made.

A 36-year-old man was shot in the stomach, left hand, and left thigh about 11 p.m. on the 2100 block of Simon Street in Wissinoming, police said. He was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

Teenage boys, including one on a bicycle, were responsible for the Simon Street shooting, but no arrests had been made as of Monday morning, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after being shot in both of his upper legs about 3 a.m., police said. That shooting occurred on the 1900 block of South Bouvier Street in South Philadelphia.

The suspects in that shooting were described as two men in their early 20s, both about 6-foot-3 and wearing hooded sweatshirts. Police reported no arrests as of Monday morning.
