Three casino hearings three days in Philadelphia

May is going to be a busy month for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Commissioners will hold three hearings on three consecutive days in Philadelphia.

First up: a review at 2 p.m. May 7 at the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St., on the revised expansion plans for the SugarHouse Casino.

It's been four years since the Sugar- House folks got the OK from commis- sioners to expand their waterfront casino on North Delaware Avenue. And it's been two years since City Council and the planning commission also signed off on plans.

But a nasty feud among the owners stalled the project. They've settled their dispute and tweaked their construction plans. So now it's back to the gaming board to ask for approval on this revised plan.

Then, May 8 and 9 at Lincoln Financial Field, commissioners will continue public input hearings for the city's second license. The slots to speak are already taken, with 77 people signing up to respond Wednesday and 28 Thursday. Both hearings start at 9 a.m.
