10 dogs rescued in raid on N. Philly house

A raid on a "filthy and uninhabitable" house in North Philadelphia turned up 10 distressed German Shepherds, officials said.

Pennsylvania SPCA Humane Law Enforcement Officers descended this afternoon on a rowhouse on the 2100 block of East Tioga Street. Nearby neighbors and businesses owners complained about the conditions at the house, officials said.

SPCA officials said they served a search warrant to rescue 10 German Shepherd dogs from the site.

According to George Bengal, director of Humane Law Enforcement, the property is in "filthy and uninhabitable condition."

Last month in an unrelated case, 28 malnourished German Shepherds and shepherd mixes were removed from a Marcus Hook property run by the Sixth Angel Shepard Rescue.
